Potty Success!
I'm SO proud of my baby girl! This morning, before church, she kept saying stinky. That's her way of telling me she's gone poopies. Well up until now she's always told me AFTER she's gone. This morning she kept saying stinkies. I checked her pull up and nothing was there. She then proceeded to go to the bathroom and pick up her potty seat and put it on the big toilet. I sat her there and about 20 minutes later....Success!!! I'm so proud of my baby!!

Some Firsts
Alissa had her first whole apple recently. I never really buy them so until now she hasn't had a chance. This bag looked especially good...and Alissa thought so too!!
This next one I thought for SURE I'd have a couple more years....but I guess I was wrong. She got into my make-up and plastered eye liner all over her face, in her ears, and all in her hair down to her scalp. She was playing in my closet and got quiet. I should know better. My dad said that every time we got quiet- we were into something. Sure enough my daughter painted her face and then wouldn't let me take pictures. My child never ceases to amaze me.

Way Too Funny
I'm cleaning out Alissa's old toys. There's this Fisher-Price toy that makes music. She hasn't played with that toy in ages. So once it was doug out...she had a blast. Maybe we'll keep it around for awhile. This is just too entertaining. I have to mention that her raising her hands...1/2 waving and 1/2 she is copying me from church. In church we raise our hands to worship and that's how she dances sometimes. he he. Sorry one is sideways. I don't have the software to turn the video around. Just tilt your head and enjoy...

Potty Time
So we have begun potty training. We decided it was time after Alissa keeps taking her diaper off to go to the bathroom. Don't leave her alone for one minute because she'll find a way to take that sucker off. After a HUGE poopie mess in her crib this week, we trotted off to Babies R Us in search of the "perfect" potty. I had done my research on parent reviews and such and we opted to go with the Baby Bjorn potty. We had Alissa sit on it in the store and she was all smiles. Upon leaving we thought about Elmo stickers as a reward. The guy working there mentioned an Elmo potty. We thought...she LOVES Elmo, so why not combine the two? So we bought the Elmo potty with her saying "mo-mo" all the way home and pointing. We have tried her on the potty several times and it's a great concept...but HORRIBLE design. The hole on the potty practically encompasses her whole little bottom. It's all she can do to keep from falling in. And there's an Elmo on the front right where the legs go. This doesnt' work too well for Alissa either because it sticks out an additional 2-3 inches. She has to sit spread eagle in order to even be on there without Elmo digging into her. So...with the crying and such of even attempting to sit on the potty...we have decided Elmo must return to the store. We are going to try the Baby Bjorn potty next.... We'll keep you posted.

Alissa's Vocabulary Dictionary
Alissa is quite the talker. She has created her own dictionary of words. Here's some I thought I would share.
Elmo- "momo"
Grandma- "Nana"
Grandpa- "Papa or Grumpa" depending oh her mood
Shoes, slide, swing, cereal...there's an issue here. These are all "SSSSS" So we have a hard time deciding on what she wants. Good thing she's beginning to shake her head "yes" and "no" in response to our questions.
No- "nuh"
Cookies- "kuh"
Fishes- "shhh"
Birds- "Caw" She associates all birds with the sounds that crows make
Ducks- "Quack Quack"
Dogs- "buh buh" We have a dog that has a nickname of "Butt Butt" (don't ask). So all dogs are "buh buh" This is also the name for our cat Bubby. So basically all animals in our house are buh buh.
There are the usuals..mama and dada.... Then of course she does sign language. She signs please, baby, eat, more, hurt. We're working on help and thank you.
She's getting so big. I'm sure this list will be expanded beyond belief in a couple weeks.....
