Goodness sakes! This Holiday season didn't turn out how I had mentally planned at all!! I was kinda disappointed, but hey- what can you do? Chris had a really bad toothache so he was feeling rotten. Even Vicotin didn't work to relieve the pain. :( His tooth started in on Tuesday. So, he was up and down every night. He couldn't sleep. We ended up opening gifts at 3am :) ha ha. The gift part was perfect. He got me a BEAUTIFUL coat, matching gloves, and purse. I felt spoiled ha ha :)
Family dinner was a little interesting. Chris's aunt was 2 1/2 hours late for dinner and the whole thing felt rushed and unorganized. Totally not the relaxing dinner I had envisioned.
Our Anniversary (5 year) was the 27th. We were supposed to go out to dinner. Our sitter cancelled because they weren't feeling well and Chris's tooth was still bothering him. So, we decided we had better postpone it until another time. I did dinner at home. I wanted something that we normally don't have and that Chris could eat because he was uncomfortable. So I bought lobster. I bought 2 cooked ones from Wegmans. When I got home, Chris asked if I knew how to eat it. LOL...i was hoping he would. How hard could it be? We had only ever ate the tails pre-done before. This was the first time the whole creature had been on our plate. Thank goodness I had a cookbook with instructions on how to take the lobster apart. Well the book showed how to snap the tail off. It totally lacked the part of the GUTS would go flying everywhere! OH SO NASTY! I thought it would be a clean break. No...the intestines came with it, flinging across the room. SICK! I built up the stomach to cut it apart and cleaned it. Again...I was hoping to salvage dinner. I began eating the tail....and didn't know it was supposed to be de-veined. UGH! I immediately lost my appetite for the lobster. so gross. Our dinner consisted of baked potatoes and salad. I did buy sparkling grape juice as well because neither of us can have the alcohol (I'm nursing and Chris was on vicotin). Thougth that would be a nice touch...but that ended up getting knocked over to soak the table cloth! It just wasn't my week.
Boy am I hoping the new year gets better!! The disappointing thing was..I was looking forward to the Holidays this year. Last year I was too tired because of having the baby. I wanted to do all the "Holiday" stuff. It just didn't turn out how I had mentally planned...but I guess what does? i guess we did the most important thing...made memories. ha ha.

Aww- I'm sorry to hear it didn't go as planned! But you're right... cherish the silly memories and know that next year you'll be looking back at them & laughing like crazy. :-)
Have a safe & happy new year!!
