Being A Mother

With Mother’s Day quickly approaching, it makes me reflect on a lot of things. I’m sincerely grateful for this opportunity I have been given to be Alissa’s mother. I also wonder about my mom as well. Did she do certain things with me that I do with Alissa? I miss her much and the hardest part of raising Alissa is not having my mom here just to talk to. There are times where I want to ask simple questions, and don’t have anyone to ask it seems. I know there are others there for me...but nothing is the same as your mom. I miss that person you can call at 3am because you’re exhausted and they will be right there at the drop of a hat without reservation or excuse. I guess it’s something I have to endure and I know that the Lord will give me strength. As silly as this sounds, I’m grateful for this website. It gives me a chance to journal and for Alissa to read it in the future. I don’t know when I got my first tooth or what words I said first, nor do I know when I took my first steps. I am, however, glad that she will be able to reflect and read this later on. I print out all my entries and put them in a binder for her to read when she gets old enough. So, Alissa- my darling…I love you more than you know and please know that it is a privilege to be your mother.

Sweet Dreams

Finally! I have been waiting to say something for awhile because I was afraid to jinx the situation. Alissa is finally sleeping through the night. I thought it would NEVER come! I found the key with her finally. She’s still nursing, but about a month ago we cut down to 2 nursings a day- one before bed and one first thing in the morning. There were a couple nights in there where she would be too exhausted from the day’s activities to nurse before bed and those nights she slept all the way through. I started to notice that as a pattern. My intent with nursing was to cut out the AM feeding and just do before bed. Alissa wasn’t having it and she was still waking up during the night. I finally put two and two together and cut out the nighttime feeding. It worked!! So for a month or so now she’s been sleeping through the night. Finally sweet dreams!!

A Busy Couple of Weekends

Last weekend we were at Masch and Pasch's house for Matt's birthday. This weekend we had a play date with Ava. Here's some pictures for you to enjoy.

Miss Personality

I absolutely love my daughter's personality. She cracks me up. She's very inquisitive. She always asks "What's that?" She is dying to know about everything. She LOVES bow wow's (dogs). Everytime she sees one..."bow wow". She also has a very loving and caring personality. Lately she gives giant squeezes and kisses. She kisses the animals but to us jsut gives us hugs. That's so very rewarding though. The other day she was too cute. We do sign language and we had the flash cards and book out. Well in the book there were tons of babies. She kept turning the pages and pointing to each baby. She would look at me and I would say "baby" and do the sign of baby. Over and over she would flip through the book. Then..to my surprise..she put her head down and kissed the baby in the book and then laid her head on the baby as to give it a hug! ha ha!! Too precious my little girl. She never ceases to amaze me with her personality.

A Beautiful Little Angel

So this weekend I went to my cousin's baby shower. Her daughter came a bit early...so she graced us with her presence at the end :) What a peanut at only 4lbs!! She is simply beautiful and so looks like a Lanzone (sorry Leo)!!

Easter Sunday

This past Sunday was Easter. I just want to share a picture of my darling angel with you all. She was a tad upset because she thought since I put her down..we were no longer going bye-bye. ha ha.

*sigh*

Every once in awhile you just need a break...and to sigh. This is one of those moments. So in my break...I will update you all.

On Chris- All of his results came back fine from his blood, ultrasound, CT, and urine samples. He still gets his pain every now and then so he has a follow up with the Doctor this month. My best guess is maybe a torn chest muscle? I really don't know.

On the Dogs- So Capone has torn his ACL. So now we have surgery awaiting, but we have to wait until we have the money to get it done. He's been 3 legging it around for the last week so we finally took him into the vet. This dog has cost us a small fortune. The cost is $1,500 to $1,700. Our hope is to get it done by July.

On Alissa- She's getting so big. I can't believe it. She's just about weaned herself from nursing. This has been really difficult for her. Being that she doesn't see me much, that's her only mommy and me time. We've started subsituting cuddling and stuff for nursing. The hardest part now will be bedtime and her 1 night time feeding at 3am. She's mostly done all the work herself. She has preoccupied herself with other things during her normal nursing time..and I havent' encouraged the nursing...and here we are. My best guess at this time is she's around 20 lbs. She has a Dr's appointment tomorrow so we'll get an official weigh in. She's still in some 6-12 month clothes, some 9 month clothes, but no bigger than 12 months. She's my little peanut. Still just her 2 teeth as well. That's okay. She can take her time :) I want to share these pictures with you because my angel is just too cute. Other than that..I guess not too much. We are really looking forward to David's wedding in June. It will be great to see the last of the Lanzone's married off and welcome Tiffany to our family.
